ArcGIS Desktop GIS
Available from Esri
As a complete geographic information system (GIS), ArcGIS allows you to easily author data, maps, globes, and models on the desktop; serve them to a GIS server; and use them through Web, desktop, and mobile clients. The ArcGIS family of products includes desktop, server, mobile, and online GIS as well as ESRI data.
Desktop GIS is the primary platform for authoring, editing, and analyzing geographic information within the overall suite of ArcGIS products and services. ArcGIS Desktop includes ArcInfo, ArcEditor, ArcView, ArcReader, the ArcGIS Desktop extensions, and a full spectrum of ready-to-use geospatial data products that can be delivered as Web services or as packaged media.
ESRI provides a full spectrum of ready-to-use geospatial data products delivered either as a Web service or as packaged media. ESRI data offerings include Community data, StreetMap, and ESRI Data & Maps.
The ESRI Developer Network (EDN) is an annual subscription-based program designed to increase productivity and reduce the cost of GIS development. EDN provides software developers with the resources needed to build solutions that embed ESRI’s technology.
The ArcGIS family of products suits the needs of small-, medium-, and large-scale enterprises and is currently used by more than one million end users worldwide.
