Liberty Multiband Land Mobile Radio
Available from Thales Defense & Security, Inc.
Linking Multi-Agency Communications. Federal, State, Local, and U.S. Department of Defense agencies can now communicate using a single portable radio that operates in direct mode or uses existing infrastructure in any of the bands. Introduced in early 2008 and FCC-certified in early 2009, the Liberty multiband software-defined Land Mobile Radio (LMR) is the first multiband LMR interoperable across all public safety bands (136-174, 380-520, 700, and 800 MHz). It provides all modes standardized for public safety use, including analog FM and P25, conventional and trunked. The Liberty LMR provides full encryption capabilities, including DES, AES, and OTAR. It is size, weight, and performance equivalent to existing single-band portable LMRs and eliminates the requirement to carry multiple radios to cover fragmented frequency bands. The U.S. Department of Homeland Security Science and Technology Directorate chose the Thales Liberty for pilot testing in its Multi-Band Radio Program.
Thales Communications, Inc., a pioneer of software-defined radio technology, is a global leader in the development, manufacture, and support of innovative communications systems for warfighters and first responders.
