Cost containment, product reliability, and security are critical factors in the government marketplace. Sharp offers secure document management solutions for its multi-function products (MFPs) including: The Sharp Security Suite, Data Security Kit, and the Sharp Secure Network Interface.
The Sharp Security Suite helps prevent unauthorized access to the confidential information stored on MFPs. At its core is a proprietary embedded operating system that is resistant to attack from malicious code and viruses. Sharp MFPs utilize a multi-layered approach to protection—providing better control over the users, devices, ports, protocols and applications that access Sharp MFPs.
The optional Data Security Kit (DSK) helps protect and control major MFP systems and subsystems. The DSK uses the 128/256 bit Advanced Encryption Standard (AES) algorithm on all data before it is written to RAM or Flash memory and the hard disk. The DSK also provides overwriting routines for deleted data, to ensure all information is virtually irretrievable by unauthorized users.
The Sharp Secure Network Interface: MFPs use embedded firmware not based on the Windows®/Linux® operating system. Therefore, the Sharp MFP's internal systems are not subject to the same virus vulnerability as Microsoft and Linux operating systems. The unique Sharp architecture provides no user interface and cannot execute downloaded files or commands sent by an attacker to compromise the system.
